How it all started.
Hi, I’m Helena, and I’m the person behind English Café Germany.
It all started with a simple idea: What if speaking English could bring people together?
Like many people, I learned English at school. But during a language trip to Malta, I discovered how much more enjoyable it can be to use English in real-life conversations, meeting new people, sharing experiences and simply having fun speaking the language.
Shortly after, the idea for English Café Germany was born: creating a relaxed space where people can meet, speak English and connect, without the pressure of a classroom or having to speak perfect English.
What started as a small idea has grown into a growing community and a variety of social events across the Rhine-Neckar region.
And I’m very lucky to have an amazing support system around me. My family and friends have supported and encouraged me from the very beginning, and I’m incredibly grateful to have them by my side on this journey. ❤️
Why this exists.
Learning English is one thing. Actually using it in everyday life is another.
There are plenty of opportunities to learn English, but finding relaxed, social ways to actually speak it can be surprisingly difficult. At the same time, meeting new people and making meaningful connections doesn't always come easily, especially when you're new to an area or simply looking to expand your social circle.
English Café Germany brings these two things together: a relaxed way to practice English while meeting new people and having a good time.
No classroom. No pressure. No need to speak perfect English. Just people, conversations and shared experiences.
The idea.
The idea is simple: create opportunities for people to connect through English, in a relaxed and natural way.
English Café Germany is not about perfect grammar or formal language practice. It's about creating spaces where conversations happen naturally, people feel comfortable speaking English and connections can grow along the way.
That's why our events come in different shapes and sizes, from conversation evenings and games to walks, hikes, social hangouts and special events.
Different formats, different experiences, one common goal: bringing people together.
What we do.
We create social events that bring people together and make it easy to meet new faces, connect and feel part of a community.
From relaxed evenings in bars and cafés to game nights, outdoor activities, social hangouts and special events, our formats offer different ways to spend time together and make new connections.
Some events are regular, others pop up throughout the year, giving our community plenty of opportunities to meet, explore and experience something new together.

Our vision.
Our vision is to create a large, welcoming community where people can meet, connect, have fun and share experiences, so that no one has to feel like they’re on their own.
We believe that connection can start in many different ways. Through a shared language, a common interest, an activity or simply a good conversation. English is what brings us together at English Café Germany, but it’s only the starting point.
What matters is creating opportunities to meet people, experience things together and build connections that go beyond a single event.
